Praised by critics in China and abroad as a “magician of the violin”, Prof. Xie currently is the Chairman of the violin department at the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
Prof. Xie started attract international attention at age of 14 by winning prizes at the Beijing International Youth Violin Competition in 1986. She was also a prize winner at the 1988 Wieniawsky Competition in Poland, in which she was also awarded “Best Performance of Wieniawski’s Works”.
Prof. Xie has recorded numerous solo albums including the complete 42 Capriccios of Kreutzer, which have been christened “the Bible of violin” by Jascha Heifetz. Prof. Xie’s distinguish career has brought her to many prestigious concert halls and festivals around the world. In the past twenty years, teaching has been her passion along with her performing career. Prof. Xie has been invited to give master classes at the music schools of Yale University, the Boston University, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore and many others. Many of her students have won awards in national and international competitions.
Prof. Xie has been under the tutelage of Prof. Lin Yaoji at Central Conservatory and Prof. Alice Schoenfeld at University of Southern California.
