Mission
The AFA Young Artist Competition, hosted by the Atlanta Festival Academy, seeks to uncover exceptional young talent and contribute to the advancement of classical music. Featuring three divisions—Young Artist, Senior, and Junior—the competition awards its grand prize winner the chance to perform a concerto with the Atlanta Festival Orchestra in August 2025, a future solo recital date, and a significant cash prize.
Designed to nurture the next generation of musicians, this distinguished event offers participants a platform for artistic and professional growth. Young artists gain invaluable solo performance experiences, collaborate with youth and professional orchestras, and receive guidance from esteemed mentors. The competition not only promotes artistic excellence but also equips participants with essential industry knowledge and connections, fostering their development into successful performers in the world of classical music.
Competition Divisions
The competition is is divided into three divisions: Young Artist Division (10 – 23 years-old), Senior Division (14 – 18 years-old), and Junior Division (13 years-old and younger). Winner of the Young Artist Division will receive a $10,000 grand prize and perform with the Atlanta Festival Academy Summer Institute Orchestra.
