Jury Selection and Composition

The Competition’s Executive Committee appoints jury members based on their international music expertise. Selection is inclusive, regardless of race, ideology, politics, religion, gender, or language. Jury composition may vary between rounds. The chairperson may be an Executive Committee member or another appointed individual.

Mission and Responsibilities

The jury’s role is solely to rank competitors according to the rules. Jury members must not vote for contestants with whom they have a “close connection,” such as sharing a residence, family ties, partnerships, or a teacher-student relationship involving five or more lessons (excluding masterclasses).

Relationship Declaration

  • Each jury member and contestant must sign a declaration disclosing any prior connections.
  • False declarations may lead to disqualification from the jury or Competition.
  • Contestants may report violations of the relationship policy to the Executive Committee.

Confidentiality and Voting Process

  • Jury members must not interact with contestants or discuss contestants, jury activities, or the Competition’s organization.
  • Voting is confidential, and scores must not be shared or discussed.
  • Jury members judge only the rounds they are appointed to. If absent, the Competition may nullify their scores or assign a weighted average to affected contestants.

Records and Oversight

An Executive Committee representative may observe jury activities and review decisions for each round. All decisions are documented and verified by the Executive Committee.

Jury Chairperson Responsibilities

The Jury Chairperson oversees the Competition rounds, ensures smooth operations, participates in voting, and addresses rule breaches. Key duties include:
  • Monitoring jury proceedings for fairness and accuracy.
  • Suspending rule-violating jury members or referring them to the Executive Committee for review.
  • Handling unexpected absences by appointing replacements with the Executive Committee.
  • Announcing results that reflect the jury’s decisions accurately.
If illness or unforeseen circumstances prevent the Chairperson from fulfilling their duties, the Executive Committee will appoint a replacement for the affected rounds or the entire Competition.
