By submitting an application, participants agree to abide by the following rules and regulations, which are mandatory for competition entry.
Commitment to Participate
Applicants must agree to participate in all assigned rounds, ceremonies, and concerts when advanced to the next round by the jury or organizers. Upon acceptance, they will receive an email with a detailed schedule. If unable to attend the semifinal or final rounds, applicants must notify the competition committee promptly or by the date specified in their acceptance email.
Application Fees
Applicants are required to pay only the registration fee; no additional financial contributions are necessary.
Eligibility and Disqualification
Applicants or Contestants found ineligible at any point will be disqualified by the organizers, with the option to appeal this decision to the Competition Executive Committee.
Code of Conduct
Contestants must refrain from any behavior that could harm the reputation of the Competition, its sponsors, donors, or partners. If a contestant acts in a way that tarnishes the AFA Young Artist and Youth Music Competition’s reputation, the Executive Committee may take appropriate action from the preselection round onward, with decisions being final. This may include disqualification or loss of awarded benefits. Contestants also agree to release the Competition from liability and to cover any damage caused.
Music Scores
Contestants must use original scores for the works they perform. The AFA Music Competition is not responsible for any fraudulent use of illegal copies by contestants. Contestants should be prepared to provide copies of the scores for the works in their program to the Competition organizers.
Travel and Accommodation
Contestants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses for the Semifinal round in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The organizers will provide accommodation recommendations to help with planning.
Data Collection and Pracy Policy
The Competition collects personal information during the application process to manage its procedures. Publicly shared details include:
- Name
- Date and place of birth
- Nationality
- Biography
- Photos
- Personal website
- Social media links
All other information is confidential and will not be shared with third parties. Applicants can access their data and request changes or withdraw consent for its use after the competition by submitting a written request.
Recording and Broadcast Policy
The semi-final and final rounds may be recorded and, unless otherwise noted, broadcast live or pre-recorded on radio, TV, or online. These recordings may also be released in formats such as CDs or DVDs.
If available, semi-finalists and finalists can request recordings of their performances. However, these recordings cannot be shared or broadcast without the Competition’s approval. Contestants are responsible for any issues arising from unauthorized use involving others with rights to the recordings.
Cession of Rights
By participating in the Competition, contestants consent to being filmed (both audio and video) and photographed during the competition rounds and the awards ceremony. They also agree that the Competition’s photographs may be used by third parties.
Contestants grant the Competition the rights to record, archive, reproduce, and distribute their performances, both digitally and in print. This includes the right to share their performances through any form of media, including television, radio, and social media, whether for free or for paid downloads, in the United States and abroad. This consent applies to all performances during the Competition.
